- High Power Motors and Reload Kits Ordering Info

High-Power Rocket Motors and Reload Kits are available at Sirius Rocketry.  These motors (marked High Power or HP or derivations of High-Power) are not for sale to the general public. Orders for these motors must adhere to the requirements of the NAR and Tripoli, NFPA, State and Federal Laws. The consumer must be a current active member in either the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) or the Tripoli Rocketry Association (TRA) and must be certified as a high-power user at a level of:  Level 1 (for H and I motors as well as any model rocket motors with average thrust above 80 newtons [G104T-M, G125T-14A and G138T-14A are a few examples and all are marked HP or High Power] and all sparky (Metalstorm) motors which are all regulated as high-power motors regardless of impulse level (HPG75-4M is one example)), Level 2 (for J, K and L motors), or Level 3 (for M, N motors).  Current active member means not lapsed or expired, as your high power certification and ability to puchase high power motors goes away when your membership lapses and is not current.  

Proof of current NAR or Tripoli membership and High-Power certification or an attempt at certification is required before we will ship any high-power motors.  When ordering high-power motors or reload kits, we will not ship the entire order until we receive proof of certification at the proper level. If the order includes other items, the entire order will be held until we receive the required information. If we do not get this information as requested within a reasonable amount of time, we will cancel the high-power part of your order and ship the rest of the items, or cancel the entire order as needed.

Please include your NAR and/or Tripoli membership number in the comments section of the checkout, and then email us a copy of your current membership card or certification form showing your High-Power certification level.  This will be kept on file, and you will be allowed to order HPR motors until the expiration of your membership printed on the card, at which time we require a new copy of your renewed membership card for ordering after that date.  When placing a high-power order, you must promptly supply us with or have supplied us in advance with this information.  Your entire order will not be shipped until the information is received.  If we do not receive this information within 5 days, or you are a non-certified user,  the high-power motor portion of your order will be cancelled and the amount of the high-power motors will be refunded (less a non-refundable 5% restocking fee charged for holding the motors and for additional credit card processing costs) and the rest of your non-high-power-motor order will be shipped.

For Tripoli Members: Tripoli no longer makes cert information directly available to vendors anymore, so we need you to send a copy of your Tripoli Card.  You can obtain this electronically via the Tripoli website, more information here. We will keep your Tripoli information on file until the expiration date on your card after which you will have to supply it again for orders after your membership renewal date.

Ordering Certification Motors:
One (1) HPR single-use motor or reload kit may be purchased for the purpose of a certification flight.

One (1) HPR single-use motor or reload kit may be purchased for the purpose of a certification flight upon providing us with a copy your NAR and/or Tripoli card as well as a written statement that the motor is being purchased for purposes of a certification flight. Certification motors may only be purchased for one cert level at a time, i.e. you cannot purchase a level 1 and a level 2 motor at the same time as you need to be successfully certified as the level 1 before we can provide the level 2 cert motor. You can, of course, order motors at a lesser level at the same time to maximize shipping or HAZMAT. We will still need a photo/e-copy of your NAR or Trpoli card to prove membership before any cert motors can be sent. NAR and Tripoli both have the capability for you to download a copy of your card in electronic format, see the individual websites for details:

JR. Level Certifications: Jr Level certifications require a HPR Certified mentor/sponsor to ship cert motors to.  We will need cert info for the sponsor and Jr. Level cert motors will need to be shipped directly to the sponsor as Jr certs are not allowed to posess or handle HPR motors directly. We also need the Membership and cert info for all parties involved in the Jr. Certification and the sponsor needs to be certified high power and current in their certification and membership in order to receive the motors. You must be 18 years of age or older to purchase high power reload kits, the sale of High-Power RMS reload kits to persons under 18 years of age is currently prohibited by federal law. All HAZMAT motors and reloads as well as Limited Quantity (labeled "LQ") can only be shipped within the Continental United States ("lower 48" states) ONLY!  Non-HAZMAT motors can go USPS ground.

Note that high-power motors that are sent FedEx HAZMAT require an adult signature on delivery so make sure someone is available to sign.   FedEx will make up to three delivery attempts, but without a signature, the product will then be held at your nearest FedEx Ground terminal for up to 10 days and you will have to then pick it up (these locations are not open on weekends). If not picked up by the end of the holding period, then the package is returned to us and the FedEx Shipping and HAZMAT handling fee is non-refundable.  Also, make sure that any hazardous items that you order are exactly what you want, as, due to federal shipping regulations, it is nearly impossible for consumers to ship hazardous materials back and we cannot issue refunds on hazardous items ordered in error.  So please double-check your motor orders.

I am an Aerospace/Defense contractor or a non-hobby rocketry entity. Can I order products from you?

We are a small CONSUMER HOBBY ROCKETRY business and can only stock and sell high power rocket motors and propellant to properly certified rocketry hobbyists only. We do NOT and CANNOT do high volume government contractor or startup defense company or research company supply. The legalities for this type of supply are way different, and can only be supplied directly by AeroTech/ISP/Karman.  AeroTech/ISP/Karman reiterated and reinforced this policy again recently. AeroTech has a non-hobby professional ISP division that sells to these kind of entities and this is where you need to go right now, you can tell them we sent you. The high-power rocketry suppliers like AeroTech-ISP (now under the umbrella of Karman Space and Defense) also do not want us selling to non-hobbyists for many varied reasons including liability, federal requirements and other reasons theirs AND ours. And since we are a dealer for the hobbyist market, we do very much need to have product available to hobbyists and not bought up and depleted by non-hobbyists, leaving our main market behind. We can not have what we meticulously stock for hobbyists gobbled up by these types of entities that tend to buy up what is available and leave our main customer base lacking for product and wondering why items are out of stock. AeroTech/ISP has laid down the law for us hobby retailers, and you can read why HERE. We abide by and agree with this. No commercial aerospace/defense research orders! Go to Karmen directly.  

We will not, and cannot sell any propellant that requires hobby certification to any one except hobbyists with that certification or those newly attempting that certification (with the proper documentation and within the requirements of the National Association of Rocketry or the Tripoli Rocketry Association) and the requirements spelled out in our High Power terms. We do reserve the right to cancel any orders that violate these terms or do not reply to our requests for further information. Large orders may be held or cancelled if, upon contacting you, you do not respond to our requests for information in a timely manner.

Sirius Rocketry is a company that supplies hobby rocketry users with hobby and high-power rocketry products. Other users need to contact AeroTech/ISP/Karman directly. 

We reserve the right to refuse/cancel any order that does not contain the proper user certification info, is from an entity that needs to contact Karmen directly, or for any other reason.
