HAZMAT fee for all orders containing USPS shippable motors you want shipped faster by FedEx Ground. Larger motors and items marked HAZMAT that MUST be shipped HAZMAT will automatically have this fee added at checkout time, no need to add it again here. Only add this fee to your cart if you have motors that can be shipped Parcel Post that you would like to have shipped by the quicker FedEx Ground method rather than Parcel Post. (Motors still have to go ground, it is just that FedEx HAZMAT is sometimes a bit faster than Parcel Post, but keep in mind that the FedEx option does not mean we can overnight motors, that is impossible as all rocket motors and hazardous materials MUST go ground). HAZMAT packages can ONLY be shipped WITHIN the continental US.
If you have items marked HAZMAT in your cart where the fee is already being automatically added, and you then add this item, you will be charged a second HAZMAT fee on top of the one automatically charged, and we will have to refund the excess fee. We get charged by our credit card processor for both charges and returns, so due to the additional expense incurred when we have to refund the excess charge, the amount refunded for the excess HAZMAT fee will be $40.00 out of the $51.00, with the $11.00 difference covering the additional expenses incurred.
Many smaller motors (under 30 grams of propellant each or containing under 30 grams per reload module each) can be shipped Parcel Post (also a ground service, but much slower) with no HAZMAT fee! (Parcel Post-shippable motors have no HAZMAT or HAZ indication in the product title or description). We ship these motors Parcel Post unless you add this HAZMAT option to get those motors shipped faster via FedEx Ground. Parcel Post generally takes anywhere from three days up to several weeks for delivery. Fed Ex HAZMAT Ground will generally be a little faster, but delivery can still take 2-7 business days (depending on your distance from our originating shipping point in Wisconsin).
So add this fee for any motors not marked HAZMAT, (or in other words Parcel Post shippable) that you would like shipped by faster FedEx Ground. Add this item to your order when ordering ANY motors that you want to be shipped FedEx if there are none in your order flagged as HAZMAT. Orders containing at least one HAZMAT motor will have most /all the motors (including Parcel Post shippable motors) shipped by FedEx HAZMAT.
Motors that are marked HAZMAT or HAZ in the Online Store cannot be shipped Parcel Post and MUST be shipped FedEx Ground HAZMAT, and the HAZMAT fee of $51.00 will be added to your order automatically at checkout time.FedEx Requires that ALL HAZMAT deliveries get an adult signature upon delivery.
If your order contains any motors or items marked HAZMAT or HAZ that must be shipped FedEx HAZMAT, the FedEx $51.00 HAZMAT fee will be automatically added to your order at checkout time. This is a handling fee for hazardous materials that is imposed for shipping HAZMAT by FedEx Ground and NOT Sirius Rocketry. This does not cover addtional expensive UN-specification packaging that must be used to ship this way, so if you can wait and your non-hazmat motors can go via Parcel Post, that is the preferred way as it will help us to keep costs down and keep us from having to impose a surcharge of our own for the expensive cost of special required UN4G HAZMAT certified packaging...
Note that all FedEx Hazmat shipments require an adult signature at time of delivery so make sure someone is available to sign. FedEx will make up to three delivery attempts, but without a signature, the product will then be held at your nearest FedEx Ground terminal for up to 10 days and you will have to then pick it up (these locations are not open on weekends). If not picked up by the end of the holding period, then the package is returned to us and the FedEx Shipping charges and HAZMAT handling fees are non-refundable. Also, make sure that any hazardous items that you order are exactly what you want, as, due to federal shipping regulations, it is nearly impossible for consumers to ship hazardous materials back and we cannot issue refunds on hazardous items ordered in error. So please double-check your motor orders.
Note that all motors must go ground, and delivery times are subject to how long it takes ground services to deliver.
Also note that this item only covers the FedEx HAZMAT fee, all of which goes directly to FedEx and is in addition to the shipping amount, which will be charged at checkout.
